Our family has been building around Gainesville since the 1990s, starting in concrete and masonry. That experience taught us to pay attention to the parts of a building that have to be right before the finishes ever go on.
Block work, the family tradeBrick, farmhouse build
ROOTS
Built from practical experience.
Today, custom homes are the main focus. The same habit carries forward: look closely, explain what is happening, and keep the owner involved when a decision belongs to them.
THE PEOPLE
One family. One standard.
Mark Ondrick
Founder & Superintendent
Mark has poured concrete and laid block around Gainesville since the 1990s. The masonry business he and Sharon built became a name local builders trusted for the work that holds everything else up. Benchmark Construction grew from those roots, and Mark still runs the field the same way: on site, hands on, checking the work underneath.
Sharon Ondrick
Co-Founder · Operations
Sharon co-founded M & M Masonry with Mark and has run the back of house ever since — the books, the paperwork, and the coordination that keep every job moving. Benchmark Construction runs on that same backbone today.
Jacob Molz
Partner · Certified General & Residential Contractor
Jacob is Mark and Sharon's nephew and has been a certified contractor for nearly two decades. He holds Benchmark Construction's general and residential contractor licenses — every job is built under them.
We’ve built together long enough to trust each other’s eye, and nothing gets lost in the handoff from one of us to the next. We want that same trust to include you, starting with the first call.
THE NAME
From masonry roots to Benchmark Construction
The work grew. The standard stayed.
Mark and Sharon established the original M & M Masonry business in 2001. For years, the family built under that name in concrete and masonry. As the work expanded from foundations and block into whole custom homes, Benchmark Construction grew from those roots.
